According to the decision made by the National Accreditation Entity (ENAC), Biomedal has extended its ISO 17025 accreditation, reaching a total of 8 accredited allergens. The international ISO 17025 standard means the laboratory meets both the technical competence requeriments and the management system requeriments that are necessary for the competence of testing and calibration laoboratories. The main goal of ISO 17025 is to guarantee the quality of the work made by the laboratories, the technical competence and the reliability of the analytical results.
Biomedal had a prior accreditation for the analysis of gluten, casein,beta-lactoglobulin, hazelnut, almond, peanut and ovoalbumin. As a result of the recent expansion of Biomedal’s accreditation scope, one more allergen joins the previous list: egg white protein. Nowadays, Biomedal counts with 8 accredited allergens according to the ISO 17025 standard, positioning between the laboratories with most accredited allergens in Spain. In the same way, Biomedal will continue to extend its catalogue of accreditations.
A quality analysis of these allergens is extremely important, since they are involved in the main alimentary allergies. For example, tree nuts allergy is one of the most frequent allergies in the population, just as egg allergy, fish allergy and milk allergy.
